About Jo

Hi There,

I’m Joanne Dillery, aka Jo, and I’m excited to tell you about my blog, Setting the Stage for School Success.

That is actually the subtitle of my book due out in September. The full title is The BSYears (Before School) Setting the Stage for School Success.

I decided to write a book about parents helping with their children’s learning because I’m pretty worried about the state of education in America. I was shocked when I researched the topic and found our ranking in not what it should be for a country like ours.

The good news is we can change that. We can start during pregnancy and then use the BS Years (Before School) to make a difference.

I feel qualified to help parents or anyone who would work with the children since I have thirty years experience as an elementary school teacher and reading specialist. I also have a continuing interest and- corny as it sounds-it does “take a village”- stay tuned!

I was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA in 1941. I had a pretty normal childhood and knew early on I wanted to be an elementary school teacher. I got a bit of a late start, but I did get started!
