  • Can follow moving objects, but once objects  “disappear from sight they are forgotten
  • Looks in direction of sounds
  • Pays attention to faces and can recognize people at a distance

Social and Emotional:

  • Begins to smile at people
  • Tries to look at parent
  • Loves to hear your voice (Remember no baby talk)
  • Tries to calm self down by bringing hands to mouth and possible sucking on hand


Speech and Language:

  • Coos, makes gurgling sounds
  • Knows that making sounds gets your attention
  • Turns head toward sounds
  • Uses sounds to let you know that she is tired, wet, or  hungry

Fine Motor:

  • Discovers hands and likes to look at them
  • Moves hands when hears music
  • Hands open up more
  • May close hands around objects placed in palm of hand

Gross Motor:

  • Is strengthening neck muscles so that he can hold head up on his own
  • On stomach baby will learn to hold up his head
  • Will grab or kick at toys or people to learn to control muscles in arms and legs
